Creating the games Atari forgot
- We will look at examples of commercial art used for old Atari games. We will compare and contrast the paintings with screenshots of the actual game.
- Students will brainstorm ideas for video games that could have existed on the Atari 2600. Any subject or genre is possible; students' only limitation is the capabilities of the Atari 2600, with is primitive graphics and comparatively shallow gameplay.
- Create a box cover for your game. No text or borders necessary; only the artwork which will be used for the box is needed.
- Using graph paper, create a "screenshot" for this game. The graph paper is needed to give your screenshot the simple, blocky look of the old games we are attempting to emulate.
- Use any 2D medium you wish, but artwork must be in color.
- Due for Project Grade on Wednesday, February 1st.
