Hey there, lovely humans of the internet! 🌐 Welcome to my little corner of cyberspace – I'm Dee Smith, your friendly neighborhood computer science and senior seminar teacher at Livingston Academy. Yep, that's me, the tech-savvy educator who's all about blending coding and life wisdom to create the ultimate recipe for success!
Now, let's rewind the story to the groovy days of the '90s. Back in '94, I strutted my stuff across the stage at Cumberland County High School, armed with big dreams and a hairstyle that perfectly captured the essence of the decade. 🎓 But hold onto your floppy disks, because my academic adventure was just beginning! I speedily zipped off to Tennessee Tech University, where I earned my bachelor's degree in secondary education with a math-tastic twist. Numbers, patterns, and equations – oh my!
Fast forward a bit, and I found myself back at the hallowed halls of Tech to snag a master's degree in curriculum and instruction. Yep, I was on a knowledge-gobbling spree, fueled by a desire to bring the best to my future students.
Speaking of students, let's talk about the magical journey that brought me to where I am today. In '99, I stepped into the world of education in my hometown, and guess what? That's also the year I said "I do" to my high school sweetheart, Scottie. It's like life was playing the ultimate two-player game with me! 🎮
Life's adventures have whisked us around the beautiful state of Tennessee, but boy, are we lucky ducks to have landed right here in Livingston. This community is a treasure trove of awesomeness, and we're over the moon that we get to raise our fantastic kiddos here. Six years ago, I set foot in Livingston Academy, and it's been a wild ride of learning, laughter, and perhaps a few facepalms (thanks, technology glitches). 🚀
Let's talk family, shall we? Scottie, the cheese to my macaroni, and I are the proud parents of two incredible daughters. Katie is holding down the fort as a sophomore at LA, rocking those hallways with style. And as for Anna, well, she's spreading her wings and getting ready to dive into the exciting world of university life as a freshman at my alma mater, TTU. Can you feel the proud-parent vibes from where you're sitting?
So, what can you expect from me? Buckle up, because I'm psyched to dive into my 6th year here at LA, sharing the wonders of computer science and the wisdom of senior seminars with some pretty darn amazing teenagers. It's all about mixing the cool logic of coding with the warmth of life lessons – a concoction that's sweeter than a pixelated cupcake.
